A Balanced Approach of Daily Preschool Learning and Play-Based Exploration

3-5 Program

  • Preschool Curriculum

Echo use the Handwriting Without Tears program as part of our daily preschool curriculum. This hands-on, multisensory approach helps children develop fine motor skills, letter recognition, phonological awareness, vocabulary, and early writing skills through engaging activities such as wood pieces, Roll-A-Doh, and Wet-Dry-Try. By combining explicit instruction with guided practice, children build the confidence and foundational skills needed for successful writing and literacy development.

  • Play-Based Approach

We recognize play as a powerful tool for learning. Guided by trust and kindness, our program provides a balance of structured preschool experiences and play-based, child-led exploration. Through thoughtfully designed activities, environments, materials, and relationships, we create a safe and nurturing space where children feel confident to ask questions, explore ideas, solve problems, experiment, and discover. By following children's curiosity and interests, we foster happiness, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

  • Small Group

Both art and preschool activities are offered in small groups to support each child's individual learning needs. Each child has their own set of materials, allowing for active participation, independence, and hands-on learning. Our educators work alongside children as guides and partners, using observation and scaffolding to extend learning, build confidence, and support skill development. This small-group approach allows teachers to provide individualized support while helping children learn and grow at their own pace.

  • Large Group

Circle Time is a cherished part of our daily routine at Echo Childcare, where children and educators come together to sing, share, learn, and enjoy stories. This large-group experience fosters a strong sense of community while promoting trust, kindness, and respect.

During Circle Time, children practice listening, turn-taking, sharing ideas, and participating as part of a group. They develop important social-emotional skills, including cooperation, empathy, self-expression, and respect for themselves and others, while learning to work together toward shared goals.
